Owner Testimonial: “Sean is a consummate professional. He was presented with a challenging landscape and developed a pool design that was aesthetically pleasing, conformed beautifully to the terrain and was very much in tune with the natural surroundings of our property. We highly recommend his services.” - Bruce & Arlene M.

Above: This project features a 15' x 30' infinity edge pool with integral spa. The design is informed by overlapping constraints including rock outcrops, a wetland, and building setbacks that netted very little space with which to work. The process involved town meetings across several agencies and a variance was required to locate the pool in a setback area.

Above: The pool was elevated 8' above existing grade to avoid conflict with an outcrop of rock that would otherwise have required extensive rock chipping; this, in turn, would have been environmentally disruptive to a nearby watercourse and wetland. The elevated pool, in the spirit of opportunities and constraints, informed a dramatic infinity edge and waterfall.

Above: Cascading red foliage of Weeping Cutleaf Japanese Maples expresses the effect of the waterfall into its surroundings, while the choice of color serves as a metaphorical representation of the Fire & Water motif. Thoughtful details like these are applied across entire systems to net spaces that embrace their users by mirroring thought and emotion.

Above: Movement, like water spilling over a vanishing edge — or suggested movement, like a staircase that entices passage -- is seductive because it triggers curiosity and beckons exploration into the unknown. The emotional aspects of design can be curated in the same manner as more tangible elements like line, shape, and form.

Above: Wide planting beds around the pool and patio address safety concerns, thereby eliminating the requirement for a railing that would otherwise make the space feel disconnected from its surroundings. Terraced beds also serve to elevate the landscape with the pool to create a Highwater garden that functions autonomously or as an extension of its surroundings.
