A hillside sloping towards the back of the owner's home is an idyllic setting for a 15' x 35' infinity edge pool and waterfall that can be viewed from within the residence (the pool is centered on an existing bay door projection and breakfast nook). Retaining walls and terraces add dimension to the outdoor living space while mitigating slope-related drainage issues.

The rhythm of lounge areas (rooms) and walkways (hallways) around the pool is framed by retaining walls and expressed into the landscape by planters featuring Prairifire Crabapple trees that complete a metaphorical Fire & Water theme. Weeping Cutleaf Japanese Maples echo the effect of the waterfall into the landscape, albeit in a different texture.

This series of images highlights the infinity edge feature of the pool from multiple perspectives. The nighttime photo directly above also reveals a signature LDC design approach: balanced forms that mirror the bilateral symmetry of the human body, thus conveying a sense of familiarity and visual harmony that connects people to the curated landscape.
