Retaining walls function like an addition by expressing the architectural lines of the existing residence into the landscape; by returning gracefully into grade, the walls also form an elegant relationship with the existing hillside. In this manner, the thoughtfully curated landscape connects people to place by blurring the line between built and natural features.
The terraced poolscape captures more usable space behind the residence while exposing site users to light and air. Perimeter plantings provide privacy and eliminate the requirement for a safety railing, while staircases connect to lower gardens and lawn areas. The 18' x 36' pool features a spa that engages a nearby fire pit in a dialogue of shape, dimension, and volume.
